Books in the Mail: A Giveaway Prize Arrives

Guess what arrived in the mail today?

A beautiful hardcover of "In the Shadow of Blackbirds" by Cat Winters! I won this copy through Carmen's stop at Shelfspace Needed on the Spooktacular Giveaway Blog Hop, and I can't wait to read it. I've seen so many glowing reviews of what a creepy, atmospheric story this is; maybe not your typical Christmas read, but I think it deserves a slot near the top of the TBR pile.

Also, I feel dorky, but I am loving the bookmark that came with it!

I haven't had a science class in five plus years and never remember any of this stuff. Now, those Jeopardy science categories are mine.

Merry Christmas, happy eating and happy reading! May you find many books under the tree. :)

  1. Sooooo incredibly jealous right now! That was one of my faves for 2013, even though I'm still not entirely certain how I feel about it as a whole (I know I don't dislike it; it just left me feeling so creeped out, but totally in a good way . . . . I don't know; it was different).

    1. Haha! Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this one thanks to you and other reviewers. (Maybe saving it for a bright, sunny afternoon with no dark clouds or shadows about ... ^^)

    2. Oh no - you totally have to read it on a cloudy day; adds to the ambiance. :)
