Top Ten Worlds I'd Never Want To Live In

Many thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for being the creative force
behind this meme every week!

This week's topic is "Top 10 Worlds I'd Never Want to Live In" OR "Top 10 Characters I'd NEVER Want to Trade Places With." They both sounded fun, so I did five of each. :D

Top Ten Five Worlds I'd Never Want to Live In:
  1. Stephanie Myer's Twilight. I'd love to visit (the real) Washington state someday soon, but for crying out loud! Vampires should NOT sparkle. And what about that wolf imprinting thing? It doesn't sound hygienic.
  2. Brave New World. No individualism, free thinking or choice of any kind (except which warm body of the opposite sex within one's class to sleep with each night and how many happy pills to pop). Nope.
  3. Harry Potter. Having magic would be fun, but this world has too much government oversight. Although, we never did see the United States of Harry's world...>.>
  4. Hunger Games. Living under a crazy dictator with little to no chance to improve one's lot in life? Nice place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there.
  5. M.T. Anderson's Feed. This world creeped me out because it was such a possible future. Chips in everyone's head that had them constantly shopping, interacting with social media and following all the latest trends. Books like this have convinced me to never put a chip of any sort in my body.

Top Ten Five Characters I'd NEVER Want to Trade Places With:
  1. Frodo (Lord of the Rings). Three giant books of running from Orcs, getting attacked by giant spiders and trudging across Mordor to destroy the Precious. I'm very proud of him, but I wouldn't want to walk a mile in his shoes-er, feet.
  2. Peter Pan. He never grows up. :P Haha, but all joking aside, I think that refusal to grow old, to face death, would make me feel too ashamed, too cowardly.
  3. Mrs. Charlotte Collins (Pride & Prejudice). Married to Mr. Collins? One of the stupidest men in England? Good luck, CharlieCharlotte!
  4. Queen Levana (Lunar Chronicles). I wouldn't want to be a queen, period. (I'd want to be the mastermind controlling things behind the scenes while the puppet-monarch deals with all the socializing.)
  5. The Joker (Batman). Smiling that much looks like it hurts.
Any worlds or characters you don't envy?

  1. *laughs* Twilight, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings made onto both of our lists (in different ways, but still). Awesome. ;)
