Updates: May it Begin

Not too much to report this week. It's the beginning of a new month! I survived another round of dogsitting. My new (first ever) smartphone came in the mail, so I've been busy trying to figure that out. Thus far, though, I'm pretty happy with it. :)

And to celebrate, I used it to take a picture of my first book buy of the month! (That's right, April's book buying ban is over.) I still haven't read anything by Rosemary Sutcliffe, but I've heard several glowing reviews about her work and, at just $1, I couldn't resist.

I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately; Frankenstein and I are not getting along. But I've set a schedule and I am determined to finish it.

That's about it for this week. With any luck, by next week I'll have finished the Modern Prometheus and gone outside and enjoyed the spring weather and all sorts of other fun stuff. Meanwhile, check back tomorrow for a review on Five Days in Skye! :)

  1. I need to read SWORD AT SUNSET - badly. :) My May book buying has actually been very much under control (unlike last month's 60-book monstrosity). I've been buying only those books I planned to get, and no others. Except one. But it was a complete collection of Shakespeare printed in the 1900s. I wasn't going to pass that up. ;) Good luck with FRANKENSTEIN! You'll make it! :)

    1. Book buying under control? What is this madness of which you speak? And thank you. I know I just need to force myself to sit down and plow through the rest. :)

    2. Believe it or not, but last month's frenzy kind of had the same effect on my book buying as eating too much chocolate does on a person's sweet craving: it's dampened it for a while. June is going to probably be another frenzy, since a friend and I are going down to Powell's City of Books for our summer trip (we have at least two trips every year; summer and winter). And when one goes to Powell's, one does not simply buy five or six books. One buys a LOT of books, otherwise it's not really worth the drive.

If you need to just express your "so far" feelings about FRANKENSTEIN, the discussion thread is still open. :)
