Updates: Japanese, Beach, Library Overdose

Yay! We all survived another week! And it was eventful!

Read:

Illusive didn't blow me away, but I enjoyed it and recommend picking it up. (I actually didn't realize how much this one character bugged me until I was jotting down notes later, but it was still a fun read.)

I've kind of stalled on Vicious and Loki's Wolves, but I'm not kicking myself for it. Friday, I went to pick up a book at the library; it turned out all six books I requested were in...and I already had one at home. And the six requests can't be renewed. ... Yep. Reading binge.

This week also involved outings! Saturday, I went to a Japanese folk dance festival (which I have never heard of before in my 9-10 years living here). And Sunday, I went to the beach! Which was cold and cloudy and windy, but I read and it was fun. :)

That's it for this week. Thanks for stopping in and check back tomorrow for my review of Blackwood by Gwenda Bond! Which I really liked. :)

  1. A Japanese folk dance festival?? I've never heard of that! I don't think we have a large Japanese culture where I live though :/ Did you enjoy it??

    1. Oops, just double checked and I stand corrected. It was the "Obon Memorial Folk Dance Festival" featuring Japanese folk dancing, taiko drumming and food.

We just have this one small pocket of Japanese culture out here, but the dances and drumming were pretty cool and the food was good...although they ran out of some of the stuff I wanted to try.

  2. Glad to hear ILLUSIVE is fun! It looked awesome, and I'm always happy to hear that books I bought on faith are not a waste of money. ;)

    1. I know what you mean. Which is why most of my faith buys are either dirt cheap or borrowed from the library instead. ;)

    1. Yeah, the festival was actually pretty fun. But they ran out of half the food items I wanted to try. :(

I definitely liked the world of Illusive, the criminal element, and even most of the characters, but yeah, no fireworks. Oh well, there's some truth to my joke that if everyone else gives it 5 stars, it has a chance at 3 from me. ;)

  4. Man I loved Vicious! It's always interesting to see what others can't get through. I am now keeping a running monthly DNF post. Hope you enjoyed the festival

    1. From the little I read, I know Vicious is one I SHOULD love, but I don't have the energy or patience or right reading mood or something for it right now. And I know I'll probably love it if I read it later, so I don't want to force myself to finish it now and give it a bad review because I was in a cruddy mood.

The festival was indeed fun. I took lots of pictures! :)
