Top 10 Books I'm Not Sure I Want to Read

A weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish

We've talked about my book buying addiction before, right? Right. So rather than go through the endless list of books in the universe I'm not sure I want to read, I inspected my shelves as best I could without causing an avalanche. And found at least two doubles. (I really do need to organize them and put together a list for when I go book shopping.)

The hard part is, I either buy books because I want to read them or because they're contributing to my children's library. Ignoring that second part, I always buy books with the intention to read them. Which makes me somewhat stubborn about admitting I might have brought a bad one home. But here they are anyway. To read or not to read? That is the question. Perhaps you all can help me decide? :)

Thanks for stopping by and check back in tomorrow for this week's Updates! In which email failed me. :(

  1. I also bought Eyes Like Stars purely for the cover art LOL. A number of those books on your list I don't recognize except I do recognize Pawn - and I didn't think it was all that great.

    1. Great minds think alike? ;) I saw lots of people rave about Pawn, but they also said the MC's lack of...brains continued through the book. I'm leaning toward not braving that again.

  2. I enjoyed ENCHANTED, but didn't love it. However, it is worth reading to read its sequel HERO. I also enjoyed PAWN, but it might not be one you'll like. I think I mostly enjoyed it because I was in a good mood. ;)

    1. Haha, good moods do help. I'll probably give Enchanted a shot, and we'll see about Pawn.

    2. There's a lot of holes in PAWN.

  3. I haven't heard of any of these, but I laughed that you found multiple copies of books on your shelves. I don't have enough books for that. I should buy more...

  4. Heh, I read the Braided Path and thought I was pretty creative when I pinned it as X-Men in faux Japan. Looks like I am not the only one who saw that influence.

    1. That sounds pretty accurate (per the reviews I've read), and I'm remembering notes of the East Asian influences now. Did you enjoy it?

  5. I don't even want to know what books would be on my list...yikes! I say jump in with ' A Sudden Wild Magic'.

    1. So I can at least remember why I stopped in the first place? Good plan!

  6. Hmm, I don't see you liking Pawn. I did, but I was a bit of a black sheep on that ;-) Buuuuut, you know how much I love Scarlet! It does have a pretty heavy focus on romance dynamics though, so it's completely fair if you aren't digging that part hehe

    1. I wanted to like Pawn... And yes, we all know how much you LOVE Scarlet. ;) If I like the couple, I can take quite a bit of romance, but I'm picky; and, I admit, the plots usually flow better for me when the main emphasis isn't on romance. Time to take my own one chapter speed dating advice!

  7. I LOVEED Lady Thief so I say read SCARLET to get to it! I DNF'd Pawn and didn't love Enchanted.

    1. I've seen lots of people loving Scarlet, so I'll give that one a try. Sounds like it's time to move Pawn from "Procrastination Nation" to "DNF" and Enchanted...we'll see about that one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! :D
