Top 10 Recommendations
A weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish
Multiple friends have recommended Midnight Thief and Vicious. (They're near the top of the TBR list.) Anya at On Starships and Dragonwings has raved about Ironskin, The Lies of Locke Lamora and Tuesdays at the Castle. Mara at The Reading Hedgehog has told me for ages how wonderful Kat Incorrigible and In the Shadow of Blackbirds are. (I'm determined to at least read the latter this year.) And, in general, it seems everyone is either recommending Stephanie Perkins' series, Pride & Prejudice or The Book Thief. (Yes, that generalization makes zero sense.)
What about you guys? Do you love recommendations? Hate? Have a good or bad track record with them? Any books people say you MUST read?
Thanks for stopping by and check back in tomorrow for this week's Updates! In which I am planning a vacation. Gasp!

I have considered Lies of Locke Lamora a favorite for years. So, read that one. Soon.
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's definitely on the TBR list! Thanks!
DeleteAhh! Not read Pride & Prejudice? lol
ReplyDeleteI've read The Book Theif and really enjoyed it.
I feel like everyone is reading the Stephanie Perkins series, but it just doesn't sound that interesting to me.
You know hat super long BBC version of P&P? So, I watched it about about 50 times, and then picked up the book. ... I stopped halfway through because I knew every line. ^^;;
DeleteI do need to read The Book Thief. It's just a matter of when. We'll see about the Perkins series. It's not high up on the list.
I hope you enjoy IN THE SHADOW OF BLACKBIRDS and KAT, INCORRIGIBLE! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! :)
DeleteYES SO MUCH TO MIDNIGHT THIEF!!
ReplyDeleteThat is all :D
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I will get to it! Soon! I hope... ;)
DeleteCan I change my you must read recommendation to Lies of Locke Lamora instead? I think you'll honestly like it better than Ironskin since Ironskin is heavy on the romance (it's Jane Eyre, you just can't escape romance!) whereas Locke is pretty much romance free for at least the first book ;-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, if I can manage to swipe it from the library. Although, if the romance is decent (and there is more to the plot than just heated glances and winsome smiles), Ironskin and I should still get along. :)
DeleteI love hearing recommendations, but I don't always follow through :/ But recs always bring great books to my attention and when I see them at the store/library I'm more likely to buy them!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I think we're all guilty of that. I think personal recs are becoming even more important now when book shelf life is drastically reduced and a title can be out of sight (and out of mind) after only a year.
DeletePride and Prejudice... one of my go to comfort books. good call!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I will finish it one of these days. In the meanwhile, the BBC adaptation makes a great comfort movie. :)
