Updates: I Need a Drink

I'm keeping things short this week. :)

I did dogsitting over the weekend (which, once again, resulted in little sleep). I also went to a church picnic on Sunday. I planned on staying for a half hour to help serve salad; I wound up staying two hours plus and, like an idiot, did not drink enough...in the middle of a high humidity heat wave. Which resulted in a beet red face. You know when cartoon characters get really mad and their faces go completely red? Yeah, that was me, except I looked ready to fall over, not beat someone silly. ;)

My dad made it through surgery just fine, but he has a "fun" recovery ahead. Honestly, the combination of that and everything else has left me a little drained, so I'm giving myself permission to slack off this week. I'm not going to worry about reading or commenting on blogs- as much; I'll probably still do a little of both. And all the usual posts will still go up. I just won't be as talkative and rambly as usual. All good things!

So, yeah, this week will be about family and forcing myself to drink more water until this heat wave finally leaves us alone.

That's all folks! Thanks for stopping in and check back tomorrow for my review of Sora's Quest by T.L. Shreffler!

  1. Taking a break from blogging is always good sometimes. I'm taking a month-long break this month, and using my free time to do other things! :) Hope your dad's recovery period goes well. :)

  2. LOL. I thought you meant alcohol. Which is what you probably meant for us to think :D Kick back and relax! Glad that the surgery for your dad went well. Hope you and him can take good care of yourselves... :)

    1. Haha, believe it or not, I'm not a drinker. One of those acquired tastes I never acquired. ;) And thank you! I'm hoping we're both feeling more human by next week.

    2. I'm not either! I can't stand losing control, voluntarily or otherwise. Alcohol and other substances are not for me. Solidarity, girl! Well wishes heading your way!

  3. Poor Kelly. Hydrate up! Also, asked my professor. Journey structure is a story where character goes on (get this) a journey! (gasp!) to achieve an end goal that is constant. Ritual Occasion structure is a story where an event influences the character to make a choice which will change them and (perchance) their end goal, so it's one where the end goal can change or changes. Thanks for the help, though! =D

    1. Yep, asking the professor (provided he/she responds in a timely manner) is often the quickest and easiest route- which is why lazy me suggested it. ;)
