So, the LSAT studying continues (rather more sporadically than it should), my little brother turned 20 (which makes me feel old) and I attempted to learn to crochet. A friend is making 150 bracelets to send with a mission trip to a leper colony in India, so I volunteered to help- if she could manage to teach me how. The results are....

It mildly resembles a bracelet! Yay! And in book news:

Read:

I finished Girl on a Wire, and it was...you'll find out tomorrow! And now you are curious and must come back. My evil plan is revealed! >:D Meanwhile, I also tore through Death Sworn and really liked it. I'm sure my mind will dissect and destroy it when I write my review notes, but I felt satisfied upon finishing the last page. And am SO glad I have an eARC of Death Marked to launch into. Not that the ending was a cliffhanger or killed me, but I'm very interested to see more of the world and the magic.

My Better World Books order arrived! Hence the reading of Death Sworn. :) But they really need to stop having sales. My credit card bill was already massive this month, but one little book order won't make a difference, right? Right...?

I say it, but we all know I'll cave as soon as the next big sale hits. Especially with certain giant lists of YA retellings floating about. :) Plus, I just found out Robin LaFevers (of His Fair Assassin fame) is having an event nearby next month!

That's it for this week's happenings! Thanks for stopping in and check back tomorrow for my review of Girl on a Wire by Gwenda Bond! A magical circus mystery surrounding a daredevil wire walker. :)

  1. I tried teaching myself crochet but I couldn't get past a single strand, lol.

I need to check out better world books.

    1. I'm not much of a spacial thinker, so it's definitely something I learned better with someone showing me how to do it step by step. I kind of cheated, though. I learned a tiny bit back it high school, so once motor memory kicked in, I found my old hand position for keeping the yarn half-steady and it went much faster.

I'm torn between telling you to go to BWB right now and yelling "Stay away! Save yourself!"

    1. It was one of those books I was really excited about, but it never showed up at the library and I kind of forgot. But I'm glad I finally read it! :)

  4. Good god do I love Phineas and Ferb. Top two show on TV for me, and it is a kid's cartoon!

    1. I haven't kept up with the newer episodes (or consistently with any TV show recently), but it's amazing! The same formula, twice every show, but still totally original, humorous and entertaining. And who comes up with some of these songs? Squirrels in My Pants, Missing My Nemesis, etc. :D

  5. Oh pretty! I love the bracelet! Do you two need help with making enough?

Yey! I'm so glad you liked Death Sworn :D Also I'm so highly in love with your recent acquisitions and can't help but feel a bit responsible ;-)

    1. I think they're due...sometime this month? (I should really find that out.) So it would probably cut it a little close shipping-wise. But we're thinking about trying scarves to send with the next group going to India, and we could definitely use help there.

Haha, yes, at least one or two of those may have been recommended by you. Which means if they're horrible, it's all your fault. Like world hunger, meteors hurtling toward Earth and all five "Twilight" films. ;)
