Top 10 Books I Want to Reread

A weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish

As a kid, I had much stricter policies on book buying. My income was nada, so the books I bought had to really be worth it. Forget impulse buys; most of the books I bought were ones I'd already gotten from the library and read three or four times, ones I knew I'd read again and again. Now...well, we've discussed my book buying addiction. But I say this because a number of the books on this week's list and I go way back.

I almost want to call them "comfort reads." You know, the good old friends you want to revisit every once in a while. Or maybe it's just nostalgia, or really compelling or entertaining characters. I don't know. Does that make any sense? Do you find yourself rereading any particular kind of book?

That's it for this round of 10! Thanks for stopping by and check back in tomorrow for this week's Updates! In which I raided the library book sale. :)

  1. Ah, how did ELLA ENCHANTED not make it onto my top 10 rereads list?! I love that book! And it's been too long since I've read it.

    1. YES! You must read Beauty. I really loved Written in Red and Murder of Crows, too. Now if only the third book would come out a few months early, we could all have a very happy Christmas.

  3. Ya, I would read Howl's Moving Castle anytime it was put in front of me. And do so in less than a day.

    1. Because you have excellent taste, Nathan. It's always a good time to read Howl's Moving Castle! :)

  4. I've been thinking about re-reading Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" (one of my favorite books of all time) and Betty Smith's "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" (because it's a classic, plus I don't remember much from reading it in high school). But my TBR pile is getting out of hand, so I don't know if I'll get around to either for a while. *lol*

    1. I remember hearing great things about "The Alchemist" a while back, but I never got around to reading it. As for school reads...sometimes I wish I remembered less. But I completely understand the TBR conundrum. Some days I just want to sit down with an old story I know I love, but the stack of unread books stares and guilts me into picking up a new one.

  5. I've reread Howl's Moving Castle more times than I can count, and reread Ella Enchanted a few times too. Also, Two Princesses of Bamarre, Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Dark Lord of Derkholm, and Redwall. Recently I've reread Joss Stirling's Finding Sky, and Seeking Crystal. But other than those, I've never been much of a rereader.

I'd ideally like to reread I Capture the Castle and Catch-22 sometime soon. And Dune, because I don't think I fully appreciated it the first time around. I think I usually reread books that.

Awesome list though! Some great books on there :)

    1. Yep, I think the nostalgia factor definitely plays a part, but Howl's Moving Castle and Ella Enchanted are also just really good books. And I love the Two Princesses of Bamarre and the Chronicles of Chrestomanci, too! (Still need to read Dark Lord of Derkholm.)

Did you enjoy Dune? I know I've heard lots of mixed opinions on that one.

  7. Ella Enchanted is one of those books I always wanted to read as kid, but never did. I remember watching the movie but I dont remember what it is actually about!

    1. O.O You haven't read Ella Enchanted?! Go read it NOW! And no worries if you saw the movie. It was completely different from the book. Still fun, but completely different.

    2. Darn I was just at the library tonight! I had better just reserve it so I don't forget

    3. YES! Or just go buy it. It's one of those books just about everyone winds up loving and rereading twenty billion times. :)
