Top 10 New-to-Me Authors in 2014
A weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish
According to my Goodreads Challenge, I've read 67 books so far this year. (I think one of them is technically a DNF that snuck in, but we'll ignore that since I'm behind schedule. Again.) It's not as many as I'd like, but it's already more than last year, so progress!
Anyway, I did a quick count/guesstimate, and approximately 53 of this year's books are by authors I read for the first time in 2014. Taking into account multiple books by one author and such, that's still at least 40 writers whose work I had never read before. That's kind of cool. :)
It was hard narrowing ~40 writers down to my Top 10 new-to-me authors, but I finally decided on a combination of books I most enjoyed and authors for whose future books I have high hopes.
That's it for this round of 10! Thanks for stopping by and check back in tomorrow for this week's Updates! In which I was crafty. And not in my usual trying to take over the world way. (The Pinky, the Pinky and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, BRAIN!)

Magic Bites is the only book I read of all that list. And it was enjoyable even though the plot didn't make a lick of sense to me.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I don't know that I've read a review saying that yet, but it makes sense. Running around, running around some more...and there you go: evil creature with evil plot on your doorstep (literally). But it was still enjoyable. :)
DeleteI got a copy of All Our Yesterdays while I was in Australia for $7. I was quite proud of that find. lol
ReplyDeleteYay! All Our Yesterdays is one of the few books I would consider paying full price for (even without an author signing). Of course I wound up finding a beautiful hardcover for much less, but I may be on the lookout for a new one. My cousin borrowed it a few months(?) ago and it hasn't been seen since. :(
DeleteI totally need to read Magic Bites stat - I think I grabbed it on audio since i'm doing a lot of audio lately. WRITTEN IN RED I LOVEEEEEEE
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm officially not the last one to that party! Audio sounds like an excellent way to go. And WRITTEN IN RED! I think I'll read Vision in Silver next. I just stubborned my way through a 1-star and am ready for something I'm almost guaranteed to like. :)
DeleteTabitha, You should definitely try out Magic Bites in audio. Renee Raudman is absolutely fantastic as the narrator. I also agree that Written in Red was amazing!
DeleteAmber R. @ Bibliophilia, Please
Ilona Andrews would have been on my list last year, I have read a couple more of her books since then. The first was definitely the weakest, so if you enjoyed it I would suggest you try the others. How was Illusive? It is on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to know. I just picked up Magic...Burns?- Magic (does something) at the library sale for a quarter. :) Illusive was pretty good. I got a little frustrated with the MC and a certain late addition to the cast, but overall it was a fun story.
