Art It Up! - Blog Redesign

Art It Up! is a weekly feature hosted by Tabitha @ Not Yet Read.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday and a great start to 2015. It's been a busy week between the holiday and having my sister in town, so I haven't done any drawing. Instead, I've been working on a new look for the blog. I'm still deciding on the final changes, but I thought I'd give everyone a sneak peek at some of the potential contenders. CSS tweaking is artsy, right? :)

Current Theme:

Possibles:
(Note: I'm not changing the blog name to Irreverent Authordom. It's a separate blog I'm using as a design test site.)

Update 1/5/15: More Possibles (taken on smaller screen)

Update 1/6/15: Even More

I wound up just tweaking my current theme because it already has a basic setup I like, but I found a lot of free responsive Blogger themes during the process. Here's a list of links if anyone's in the market. :)

Thanks for stopping by, and check back tomorrow for this week's discussion post! In which I talk about potential book buying plans for 2015 (but not the kind you're thinking). :)

  1. So you're planning to change the name of the blog as well!?

    1. Haha, no. (Just realized how horribly unclear that was. ^^;) That's just a separate blog I'm using to test design ideas.

  2. I think I like the fourth option the best - and the name change is lovely, as well! CSS tweaking is definitely a worthwhile artsy pursuit ;) I can't wait to see which theme you choose. x

    1. Thank you! I'm still playing around with colors and fonts (and will probably make at least 20,000 more tweaks), but it's coming along. :)

  3. I like #2. But all of them look good. The ones with the bold blog name look better to me than the ones with the thinner blog name. But as long as you're happy and we all can still find everything, that's what's important!

    1. Yeah, I'm realizing the darker colors pop a little more, and I'm still looking through fonts for the title. Thank you! :)

  4. Hmm, four or five? And we are adding in a blog name change?! BIG changes indeed!

    1. Nope, no blog name change- just a design test site. :)

  5. Oh, I like the teal you currently have! But if not, I like #4 :)

    1. Thank you! Hmm...maybe a slight variation off this teal? Ah well, goodness knows I'll try at least 10,000 tweaks before calling it quits. ;)

  6. I like the very last one, with the gold accents.

    1. I tried those colors on a whim, but they didn't turn out too badly. :)

  7. Is it bad that I like all of them and wouldn't mind seeing any of them? I like the ones with the title in straight, printed letters though - versus the cursivey ones. Just my two cents :D

Good luck with the redesign! I seriously need to get some design work done on my blog O_O

    1. Of course not! It's wonderful that none of them look horrible. ;)

I'm still playing around with all sorts of ideas...and finding I still like the basic layout of the blog. I think I may just want to play around more with the colors and fonts...and maybe try something a little more complex for the header/blog title? Not sure I have the skill to pull that off, but I may try.

Good luck with your blog design, too! I'm not an expert (or even a competent amateur), but let me know if you want any help (or if you want to know which of the above responsive themes worked best in a test run). :)

  8. Hmmm, I like the two blueish ones two up from the bottom! I like the header text on them specifically ;-)
