Top 10 2014 Releases I Meant to Read
A weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish
This is what we call the first walk of shame of the new year. This is where we look back at some of the many great books published in 2014 that I meant to read...but didn't get to. Yes, for one reason or another, all 10 of these lovelies remain unread.
I didn't include December 2014 releases because there was just no way with the holidays and everything. And rest assured, I still intend to read all of these; I just need to hit the right reading mood/get my library to order a copy/etc. :)
That's it for this round of 10! Thanks for stopping by and check back tomorrow for this week's Updates! In which I got an awesome library book. :)

From your list the Rachael Aaron is my biggest snub.
ReplyDeleteI just found out about "Nice Dragons Finish Last" recently from one of Tabitha's reviews. Hmm, this does make me curious. I wonder which end of the spectrum I'll hit upon reading it. :)
Deletelol, I avoided this one this week because I didn't want to even know how many books I didn't get to ;) If it makes you feel any better I haven't read any of those either, lol.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, Sam! I still have books from 2013 (and 2012 and way before) sitting on my shelves unread. ^^;
DeleteI think we all visited a bit of heartache through this week's theme ha ha! Stolen Songbird made it on my list too, and I've actually had Midnight Thief on my wishlist for months! Great list :)
ReplyDeleteSparrow's TTT
It's one of "those" themes all right. ;) I feel extra bad about some of these, though, because I won them from giveaways, and now I feel bad about winning- like they should have gone to better homes that would have read them already. :(
DeleteYep this is definitely our walk of shame. If it makes you feel any better I have unread review copies of The Midnight Thief & Stray too. From your list I only read The Stolen Songbird. It was nice, worth checking out definitely.
ReplyDeleteI know! The horrible thing is I have 6/10 of these on my shelf. It's not like I can't find them or they're on hold at the library. Much shame. ;)
DeleteI still want to get to Midnight Thief at some point. Of course, I need to buy a copy first. *lol* I've heard a lot of good things about Stolen Songbird, too, so maybe I'll have to put that on my wishlist.
ReplyDeleteOne that's not on your list but I've been considering for a while is Sara Raasch's Snow Like Ashes. I'm a little wary, though, because it's gotten a TON of hype, and I don't always love books that a lot of people gush over like crazy.
Midnight Thief is one of those giveaway copies I feel super bad about not reading yet. ^^; And Stolen Songbird is on my shelf, too. Oh well, maybe my self-imposed personal book-buying ban will drive me toward my unread shelves. :)
DeleteI remember seeing some good reviews for Snow Like Ashes. Its cover and synopsis didn't initially grab me, so, for now, I'm going with my gut and moving it to the bottom of the TBR pile. But it might be a good one to borrow from the library. :)
Dissonance was on my list for 2014 and now that I remember it, I'm sad I forgot about it! I don't think I could ever make a similar list and keep it to only 10.....file this list under 'impossible'.
ReplyDeleteYes, picking the Top 10 was difficult...and a little depressing. All those books you were excited for at some point but forgot about or had to forgo for schedule's sake. At least we're remembering them now and giving them a second chance at being read, right? :)
DeleteI definitely enjoyed the ones of these I did read
ReplyDeleteMidnight Thief
Nice Dragons Finish Last
Stolen Songbird
Mistwalker
I vote for those first!
Midnight Thief is extra high on my to-read list right now. I've heard so many great things about it, I can't believe I haven't read it yet.
DeleteAh! Did I not put Mortal Heart on my list? SHAME ON ME. That's huge on my list for 2015!
ReplyDeleteNo worries. I'm sure we'll be finding tons of 2014 books we haven't read as the year goes on. :)
DeleteJust to warn you, there is a fair amount of romance angst in Dissonance ;-)
ReplyDeleteRomance angst? Hm...that could go either way. Is it angst like Murder of Crows or angst like Twilight?
