NYC Weekend Recap

I returned today from a weekend in New York City, which I won through a sweepstakes from Ruckus Books. I had an amazing time. A major thank you to all the folks at Ruckus for hosting the sweepstakes and making the trip awesome!

Photo recap! :) (And possibly the most pictures of me I have ever posted online at once.)

Friday night: Bibimbap at this great little Korean restaurant

Saturday: a lazy morning perusing books at the Strand

...and maybe being the nerd who prettified the half-price paperbacks >.>

Broadway's "Aladdin" at the New Amsterdam Theatre

It had the ORIGINAL voice of Jafar from the 1992 movie playing Jafar! Which means the evil laughs were spot-on. And the guy playing Aladdin had a great voice!

 The theater itself was beautiful!

And the curtain was a giant carpet-pattern!

I also took a quick look at Central Park, though I skipped walking through it. The weather people were right (for a change). We had a weekend of FREEZING cold and wind, snow, and rain.

And we walked through all of it. I'm proud. But yes, it was a little cold. ;)

Because no trip to NYC is complete without Starbucks. There were two directly outside the hotel and another four or so within a 1-block radius.

And then I went home. :)

No discussion this week. Just FAFSA and taxes and other fun stuff. :P But we'll be back with our regularly scheduled programming Tuesday.

PS - There were also empanadas and Panera Bread (both of which we ate before I remembered to take a picture) and a trip to the famous Herald's Square Macy's with the wooden escalators (which my lacking selfie skills failed to capture). :)

    1. It really was a great time. Although it made going back to work this morning a little depressing. ;)

  4. Looks like fun, even if it was freezing :) I've been planning my trip to NYC for BookCon and trying to figure out the other site-seeing I want to do. The Strand is a definite!

    1. Yes, you must see the Strand! :D The weather should be nice enough for a trip to Central Park by then. And there's pretty much every kind of food and shopping you can imagine. :)

  5. You're making me excited for NYC, Kel! I'm especially looking forward to the bookstores and food. I've recently rediscovered my love of restaurant hopping and ethnic food sampling.
