Updates: Netflix & BEA Prep

Netflix sucked me in again. I was so curious to see what Marvel did with the new Netflix Original Series "Daredevil." The cinematography is pretty dark and stylized, and they picked a really interesting psych profile for the Kingpin, but it was well done. :) And, of course, after I finished binging that, I got sucked into "Haven" again. I feel like I should at least finish the first season before I take a break. ;)

And BEA 2015 is officially only five weeks away! Which means I have a bit of shopping to do, namely in the shoe department. My sneakers are down to zero tread and my flip-flops have lost all their soft, cushiony support. While assessing the closet, I found a few other gaps, so we'll see what's on sale this weekend.

Where do you guys like to shop for "nice" clothes? I'm an absolute cheapskate who hates spending more than $10 on anything, but, especially with law school ahead, I think it might be time to start investing in some better quality (but not too expensive) work clothes.

Read:

Seriously Wicked wasn't as entertaining as I hoped, but it's not horrible. I think I just felt too removed from a lot of the action. And the girl is a little too focused on her crush considering the situation. But that describes at least half of YA, right?

Currently Reading:

The Dragons of Dorcastle is officially next on the list. I read the first few pages from Jackaby, too. It didn't immediately grab me, but I've been in a funny reading/non-reading mood this week, so who knows? :P

That's it for this week's happenings! Thanks for stopping in and check back tomorrow for my review of  Hexed by Michael Alan Nelson! In which a girl is kidnapped and a magically knowledgeable thief must save her. :)

  1. My place of choice for nice clothes is DressBarn. They usually have sales and other deals, so their prices aren't bad. They have an array of casual clothes and work/school appropriate clothes.

    1. That's a good idea! I'll definitely have to wait for the good sales, but I've heard they have good quality clothes. Thanks!

    1. I used to window shop at Old Navy all the time! Until the mall lost its bookstore and I no longer had a reason to go. ;) I hope you like Daredevil!

  3. I just watched the first episode of Daredevil. It's interesting, I'll keep going.

Only on season 1 of Haven?? Season 2 is really good :)

I do most of my shopping at Kohls cause it's sooo cheap.

    1. One episode to go on Season 1, and the plot just thickened in a major way. I may have to dive straight into Season 2 after this.

I tend to do a lot of shopping at Kohl's, too (on the sale racks), though some seasons they don't have any styles I like, or the good stuff refuses to get marked down enough. :(

    1. That's the second Old Navy mention, so I'll definitely have to check them out again. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

  6. Thrift stores. *nods* It's sometimes amazing what you can find, and the prices are usually super-cheap. I fount a vintage golden colored skirt from the early 1900's once. Barely worn at all, and only $3. There's usually good work clothes as well, people are always outgrowing stuff or just cleaning out their closets. Sometimes places like GoodWill have decent prices, but mostly I tend to go to the ones that donate all proceeds to some-charity-or-other. Those ones always have the good stuff.

    1. Thrifts stores are always worth a look. I may have to drive a little north to find ones with nicer donations, but that's not a bad idea at all. Thank you! :)
