It's (almost) alive! The lining and exterior panels are officially attached, so it's a bag. It still needs two rows of edge-stitching along the top and buttons/button holes for the flap (and some sort of Velcro strap pad), but it's mostly done! As Miracle Max taught us, mostly is a good thing. I have no idea whether the backpack part will actually function, but it works as a tote bag regardless.

I'm also thinking about making a quick (haha) business card holder out of the scraps. Or making a wallet so I can use my wallet (which is actually a business card holder I picked up in Spain) to hold business cards. What do you think? What do you usually use at BEA/conferences to hold business cards?

How to Lessen a Seemingly Insurmountable Trailing of the Goodreads Challenge in 5 Days (a.k.a. books I read this week):

I don't pick up graphic novels very often. After a massive manga phase in high school, I kind of fell away from the medium. But I love stories, I love art, I love animation, and, when ridiculously behind on my GR Challenge, I remember I like graphic novels, too. There are a lot of different styles and stories in this batch; I'm thinking maybe a quick post this weekend with a sentence or two on the art/story in each?

Currently Reading:

I'm barely 10% in, but I'm liking it so far. Also, I need to stay away from NetGalley and Edelweiss, at least until after BEA. I think I'm still in this mindset where I expect them to deny every request; and when they don't, I'm elated, but also want to kick myself for requesting it when I know time is crunched.

On the bright side, I should be able to get a lot more reading done once this bag is complete. Which will be today! So, if you happen to see me on Twitter or Instagram or leaving blog comments or anything not sewing tonight, give me a virtual slap upside the head and tell me to get back to work. :)

That's it for this week's happenings! Thanks for stopping in and check back tomorrow for my review of Siren's Fury by Mary Weber! In which happiness is thwarted again and again and again. :)

    1. Thank you! I still need to pick up some velcro for the flap (which will function better than the buttons), but otherwise, it's FINALLY done! I'll probably post the measurements I used sometime this weekend, but seriously, either have someone else make it or buy something similar. So much easier. ;)

    1. The sewing machine threw a hissy fit as soon as I started on the scrap piece, so I'll either cut a fresh one or forget it. :P It's amazing what you find when browsing the library; and hopefully there are more where these came from because I'm still behind on the GR Challenge.

  3. The bag looks cool! Love the print! I've bought the entire Amulet series for my nephew, but haven't read them. They looked so good though!

    1. Thank you! I've heard about the Amulet series for a while, so I figured I'd give it a try. I can definitely see why it's become popular. :)

  4. It's looking good!! I cheated and just bought one. :P But I might sew more pockets on it. I'm no graphic novel fan, but I love the Amulet series.
