Art It Up! - Evil Queen

Art It Up! is a weekly feature hosted by Tabitha @ Not Yet Read.

I've been thinking about fear recently--what things inspire it and how we react when faced with it. Which makes an art series on the Disney villains both fun and oddly deep and introspective. :)

This week is a quick sketch of Disney's first big baddie- the Evil Queen from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"!

The Evil Queen is a deceptively simple character; she wants to be the fairest of them all, and she's willing to kill to keep it that way. Having an enemy willing to go to any lengths to ensure success is pretty scary, but I also see why many retellings try to get inside the Queen's head. What fears are so strong they drive her to act this way and seek security through beauty? Why is that the quality by which she defines her worth? Marissa Meyer recently explored some of those themes in Fairest, a Lunar Chronicles prequel.

What about you guys? Do you like getting inside villains heads? In this tale, do you tend to identify more with Snow White's fears or the Queen's?
