Summer "Vacation" Begins

It has been a seriously crazy week. School is over (except for the journal competition, which is due Friday), but I probably won't have grades until June/July.

The crazy parts of the week: my car was totaled at the start, and I bought a new one at the end. No details because online is not the place, but suffice it to say I'm okay (thank God)--except for a mild case of sticker shock. The financing lady was all, "You don't look very excited about your new car," and I was like, "I'm still mourning the extraordinary amount of money it costs."

On the bright side, it's an absolutely brilliant car and rides beautifully, so it'll be great for the long commute to school. On the dark side, there can be zero unnecessary spending until this thing's paid off.

In other news, my internship hit a snag, but it's all straightened out and rescheduled now, so I'm set for working and interning this summer.

I haven't done a ton of reading since school ended, but I FINALLY finished The Lost Compass, an eARC I started back in March. I might have finished it earlier, but it had a slow start. :P But the cover art is fun!

I have two more review copies on hand, so look for those reviews and a few others in the coming weeks. My review of Marked in Flesh is half-typed and just awaiting a few finishing touches, and Rook shouldn't be too far behind.

With the exception of eARCs (because NetGalley/Edelweiss stats), I'm only planning to post full reviews of books I really like and recommend for now. I'll still mention the okay and no-go reads in updates, but I'd rather use my blog-space to push books I really like at poor, unsuspecting victims eagerly awaiting readers. ;)

It's not much of a summer "vacation" yet, but thanks to the internship scheduling change, once this journal stuff is over, there's a chance I can take multiple beach days or go explore the city! Or cook! Wait, that last one might be a little dangerous...

Happy reading all!

  1. Can't wait to see what you thought of Marked In Flesh!

Sorry to hear about your car, but glad you are okay. Hope your internship goes well!

    1. Review preview: I really liked Marked in Flesh! Still loving the series.

Thanks, Silvara! I have a good feeling about the internship, and semi-high hopes for more reading this summer, too! :)

  2. OMG! Totaled car?! New car?! Internship snag?! You lead an exciting life (for better or for worse). Hopefully you can save up some money from the internship and things will be okay. Right? Right. O_O

Best of luck with everything, Kel!

    1. Haha, I guess it was "exciting," though I'm hoping for no repeats. ;) Actually, the way the (unpaid) internship got rescheduled, I might be able to make a little more money at my other job, depending on the workload. Thanks, Alyssa!
