5 Free E-books Worth Downloading

I downloaded a lot of free e-books on my laptop in between classes this year. I stopped reading most after a page or two, but a few of them were worth the time and definitely worth a click.

Sora's Quest (fantasy) - While it wasn't the most original fantasy I've ever read, I was impressed with the quality of the writing, and romance was way, way, way in the background. See my review for more details.

Lady of Devices (steampunk) - This story went in some strange directions and ended a little out of place, but overall it was fun, imaginative and decently written. Almost steampunk Charles Dickens?

The Final Formula (SFF/urban fantasy) - Final Formula was a strange mix of elementals, necromancers and alchemy. It has a few "older" scenes and a darker tone than the previous two, but it was pretty entertaining.

Cloudy with a Chance of Destruction (Lois Lane) - Confession. I actually haven't read all of this yet. But I did read Lois Lane: Fallout and LOVED it. So, you know, more Lois. ;)

Batman: Gotham Adventures - This is something of a nostalgia pick. I loved the 1990's "Batman: The Animated Series" cartoon as a kid (still love it, and now it's on Amazon Prime). Even if you don't know the show, it's a great little comic and a little taste of one of the best interpretations of the Batman legend.

I've found a couple of other good indie e-books. Unfortunately, they were only free for a limited time. If you're interested in getting notifications about e-book bargains (sometimes free, more often just discounted), you can get daily emails from BookBub and/or Riffle. Their lists have some overlap, but quite a few differences.

Any titles you would add to this list?

  1. Thank you for the reminder to snag Cloudy with a Chance of Destruction! I, too, really enjoyed Fallout. :)

    1. You're very welcome! I can't wait to read the sequel. :)
