Book Covers by Imprint

I've been labeling the books I read by publisher/imprint for a few years now. I think Goodreads should have an option for this, but considering how long it took to get the reread feature added, I'm not holding my breath.

Today's Top 10 Tuesday topic is "cover theme freebie," so I thought it would interesting to compare sets of book covers from different imprints! I pulled from my Goodreads "read" list and publisher labels and saw some interesting trends in the process. Turns out, I read imprint hop a LOT. I've only read more than five or six from a select few. I also tended to stick with an imprint when I found an author or series I liked.

Harper Teen

Margaret K. McElderry

Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

Balzer+Bray

Strange Chemistry (which is sadly no more)

Little Brown Books for Young Readers

Disney Hyperion

Harpercollins
Scholastic
Greenwillow

Do you love the covers of any particular imprint? Any imprint whose covers you consistently hate?

  1. Bane has the worst covers hands down. I would never pick up Bujold just by her covers.

Orbit's sci-fi covers are awesome, most their fantasy ones are pretty generic.

Tor is hit or miss but most of my very favorites probable come from them.

    1. I just looked at a couple Bujold covers. They're very..."stylized"? I've liked some of Tor's work, too. :)

  2. This is such an interesting and original post! It's so creative and I love seeing how all the cover designs in different publishing imprints compare to each other. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post! <3
