Book Roundup: Romance, Magic and Superhero Babies

Good news: I passed the New Jersey bar exam! Whoo! Bad news: bar prep 2.0 is in full swing for the Pennsylvania February exam. Pity the fool? I am that fool. :)

Before I return to the Batcave of Studying, here's a quick roundup of my recent reads. Skipping over the books that were just okay, because life's short.

Wildfire -- I finished the Hidden Legacy trilogy and liked all three! I'm a little sad to see Nevada's story end, but it looks like we're getting more novels in this world focused on her sisters. Which I shall read.

The Shadow Queen -- I've been meaning to try the Ravenspire books for a while, and I'm glad I finally did. I have a weakness for fairy tale retellings. This one didn't blow me away so that I must rush out the door this instant to read the next one, but I liked the writing, the world and the characters, and I'll likely continue the series.

Giant-Size Little Marvel: AvX -- Superheroes as babies/kids. With their powers. In a neighborhood together. It's violent and hilarious and oh so much fun! Thanks to my Secret Sister for this one!

Free Agent -- A really interesting, different take on happily ever after that spoke to my cynical self. Can't trust those princes or fairy godparents.

Enchanted, Inc. -- Another good one from my Secret Sister! It was light and fun and made ordinariness seem magical, surrounded by actual magic.

Do You Want to Start a Scandal? -- Romances are kind of hit and miss for me (more miss usually), but this one had a ton of great humor and a little mystery and was just very fun.

And now back to the Batcave of Studying.

Have you read any of these? Any recommendations for similar fun reads?

  1. Congratulations!! That's fantastic!!! :)

I really enjoyed the first two books in the Ravenspire series, the third wasn't as good. I'm also a fan of Tessa Dare's romances, but I can't remember if I read that one.

I'm currently reading Hank Green's "An Absolutely Remarkable Thing" and I'm loving it!

    1. Thanks Sam! I'll keep that in mind on Ravenspire, and if you usually like Tessa Dare and haven't read this one, you'll probably like it. I just looked up An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, and it sounds really interesting! I hope it ends well!
